Systems Integrator

Flex Metrics is looking for a full-time Systems Integrator / Software Implementation Specialist in our Roanoke/Blacksburg, VA offices. Flex is a leading provider of factory floor production visualization and decision support software with deployments on almost 1,000 production lines at manufacturers across North America.

As a member of the Flex project team, you'll be responsible configuring, deploying, monitoring, and upgrading Flex software and hardware for multiple client project engagements. The ideal candidate is passionate about all facets of IT who understands software development as well as the operational side of things like servers, networks, databases, and systems integration, as well as, PLCs and industrial controls. This role works closely with IT team members and the development team to implement stakeholder requirements and ensure consistent and repeatable delivery of Flex software.


  • Install, deliver, and upgrade our software and hardware at customer sites (travel is typically not required)

  • Deploy pre-configured appliances and virtual machines within client production environments and corporate domains

  • Evaluate customer needs and implement software configurations

  • Enhance and extend a configuration, deployment, and monitoring framework for our hybrid premise/SaaS software applications.

  • Develop and operationalize practices and procedures as we grow

  • Conduct end-user training on the Flex product suite and practical data analytics

Required Skills / Qualifications / Experience

  • 3+ years’ experience with Windows OS and a SQL web operations background

  • Software installation, maintenance, integration, and configuration for enterprise systems

  • Ability to direct customer expectations and drive projects forward to completion

  • Ability to multi-task and engage on multiple projects simultaneously

  • Strong organizational abilities with attention to detail and ability to manage to deadlines

  • Ability to articulate the benefits and tradeoffs of competing technology choices and approaches

  • Comfortable in a small, but high-quality team environment.

  • TSQL / SQL Server configuration, installation, and maintenance

  • SQL Reporting Services

  • Knowledge of relational databases; cloud architecture; VMWare

  • Knowledge of network architectures, TCP/IP, and basic computer troubleshooting

  • Proficiency in Excel pivot tables, Power BI, or equivalent analytics tool (optional)

  • Hands-on Azure Cloud experience (optional)

  • Knowledge of Industrial Control Systems and PLCs (optional)
